Andrew E. Werring

Andrew is a lifelong resident of Atchison with his maternal family having emigrated from Ireland in the mid-19th century and settling in Atchison and Brown Counties. His home was built in approximately 1880 by his Great-Great-Grandparents. Being a lawyer is in his genes as his great uncle and great-great-uncle were attorneys in Atchison and his father was also an attorney in Atchison having served as the County Attorney for Atchison County. His father, Tom Werring, was formerly partners with J. David Farris prior to his return to the New York area in the mid-1980's. Andrew practices in the same building that was occupied by Tom and J. David Farris in the 1980's under their partnership.

Andrew attended and graduated from Maur Hill Prep School (now Maur Hill-Mount Academy) and Benedictine College. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 2005. He returned to Atchison and began practicing in the Atchison County Attorney's Office where he gained invaluable experience prosecuting a wide variety of cases.

In 2007 he left to form his own private practice with a focus then on Criminal Defense and Family Law. His practice quickly grew to include creditor rights/collections, estate planning, and business organization/consultation. In 2019 Andrew partnered with J. David Farris and John W. Fresh to form the law firm of Farris, Fresh, and Werring Law Office. This firm existed until 2023 when John W. Fresh was appointed District Judge of the First Judicial District.

Andrew firmly established himself as a creditors-rights attorney in his solo practice. When he formed the partnership with Dave and John he created Atchison Account Management, LLC to manage the existing collection practice he developed. There, his team enjoys unparalleled success in the region and a reputation of being the company to hire when you want your monies recovered.

Andrew has been recognized for his contributions to the legal community by being nominated on two occasions to serve as a District Court Judge for the First Judicial District. First in 2021 and then most recently in 2023. The nominations came after results of an application process and selection by a nominating committee comprised of his peers from within the district as well as citizens from the district. The appointment is ultimately made by the Kansas Governor. Although he was ultimately not selected as a District Court Judge, the nominations represent an affirmation from his peers of his legal ability and demeanor which could serve him well, and especially the citizens of the First Judicial District, as a District Court Judge.

Andrew and his wife Leslie enjoy spending their time with their daughters and volunteering for their local community. They currently hold positions on the Maur Hill-Mount Academy Endowment Fund board and the St. Benedicts Catholic School Endowment Fund board. Andrew also volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America. They were both instrumental in the formation of the Atchison Community Health Clinic (ACHC) with Andrew serving as an original board member and Leslie serving as one of its first Directors. In the past, Andrew served on the City Commission for the City of Atchison holding the position of Vice-Mayor and Mayor as well as having served on the Atchison Community Educational Foundation having served as the Board President for many years. Philanthropy and giving back to the community are an ingrained part of who Andrew is and what his family does.
